I am eating tuna fish with chopsticks...now I said I was doing the vegan thing...and I am....I just had no time for lunch today as I was running around trying to get t-shirts made for a tournament December 5th that the robotics team I coach (the Transportanators) are competing in....so I have been going like a jack hammer since the alarm sounded at 5 a.m.
I had to fit in a gym work out tonight as I was at the hospital last night and too exhausted to do diddly squat after and I can't work out Friday night before Stone Cat or Saturday as I am running the darn race nor Sunday as I imagine I will be recovering from the race : ) so just got home around 7 and need to be asleep by 9 at the latest....nothing in the fridge..stomach not at its best..so plain tuna in a bowl with some nuts on top was really what I could handle tonight....the chopsticks are part of my new "eat slow and stop inhaling food like a puppy dog" lifestyle : )
I am spent. I can't focus on packing tonight so will need to do that at 3:30 tomorrow when I get home from school...quick shower (maybe) pack clothes and gear and head to Danvers to the hotel. I am excited about Saturday..I REALLY want (and in truth need) to pr....found out I have to have another procedure next Wednesday : ( and well I am kind of bummed...and a little bit scared to be honest..so I want this pr badly Saturday..break 10 hours that is my goal.
Next week I start planning out the design for my new tat: "relentless forward motion" on either my calf or my bicep or maybe my shoulder ; ) It has been my mantra these past few months when I have been on the edge of collapse....I say it over and over in my head or even out loud like I did when I ran with Kev at VT50....
I am surprisingly at ease as of late....I have come to terms with things...I have decided to make a few new goals/hopes for the upcoming year to add to my goal of running Western States...
1. I would like to travel to at least 3 different places outside of NE to run 100 mile races in 2010
2. I would like to do 10 unsupported pull ups from a dead hang by December 31 2010
3. I would like to do a sprint tri
4. I would like to learn to swim (right now I doggie paddle ; ) so I can do the sprint tri
5. I would like to set or break a record (for women) fastpacking either monadnock sunapee, metacomet monadnock or wapack
6. I would like to win a trail race
7. I would like to have something published (even a letter to the editor) in Trail Runner
8. I would like to learn to like bourbon
9. I want all my students to leave in June 2010 feeling special and loved
10. I edited this one...after thinking about it what I really want is to be more giving and open with the people I love....that is what I think is more important

The "person love you back" thing is not a bonus, it would be a must as without that the relationship would not last.....nothing worse than falling in love with someone who does not feel the same way.
I hope you reach all your goals, is is a very good list, it makes me think I should list some goals for the upcoming year.
I would like to do a 50 miler....seems kind of meek to your 3x 100 miler goal...
You know being published is a matter of just submitting as much material as you can until they read something they like. Write about every trail experience with as much detail as you can muster up, with plenty of emotion thrown in then send it to them.
So...why bourbon?
Thanks for the advice : )
You are right about being loved back..but there then again there is something to be said for just feeling that kind of passion for a person separate from how they feel back : )
I am going to start to focus more on my race reports and writing some in depth reflections on my running experiences..see if I like any of them and then take the plunge : )
For some reason drinking bourbon on the porch as the sun goes down just seems really satisfying and kind of sexy too!
Good luck, Michele...at Stone Cat and with your list.
Run a 100 out West, nothing like it.
Have done MSGT end to end several times, would be interesting to do a 104 mile end2end2end....Have done a Wapack end to end many times (my main weekend training course).
Knob Creek Bourbon, come down and run some of the VHTRC winter events and Gary Knipling will get you to love it.
You will find the right person, it took me 49 years to find Deb ;-)
Again, best of luck at SC (have fun) and also with your procedure next week.
Steve
I just googled VHTRC : ) looks goooood...tell this Gary I will be looking for him ; )
West is where my body seems to be naturally inclining itself as of late..I am dreaming of those trails that I see pics of in Trail Runner...
49 years does not seem to long to wait if I could have something as wonderful as you and Deb : )
Thanks for the great advice as always : )
Come to Minnesota for the Zumbro or Superior Sawtooth 100's and I'll bring the bourbon (I'm a fan of single barrel, from the high-octane ones - one's 180 proof - to the weird Blanton's). Enough bourbon and I might look like a candidate for #10 ;)
Oh, and the 10 pull-ups are easier if you do one each month.
Reading this, I'm reminded of the Meat Loaf song, "Two out of Three ain't Bad." I your case, I hope you go 10 for 10 in 2010.
Well, when we move to NM (soon, I hope), you will be more than welcome to come stay with us in the Jemez Mountains.
Had a wonderful 6 mile trail run in Beaver Brook today, the leaves are finally getting squashed down :-)
There are some fun runs down in Virginia that we'll be going to over the winter (hardly any snow), come on down and we'll introduce you to the gang!
Are you running Fells in 2 weeks? I just signed up, driving down with Garry.
Seeya,
Steve
